Casey Hollister

Director of Education

Casey Hollister is the Director of Education at Eclipse Academy, where she oversees curriculum development, as well as learning and teaching. She also is a teacher of English, science, math, and executive functioning, and leads our small-group classes.

With an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Casey’s teaching practice is rooted in Generative Learning. At Harvard, Casey studied with legendary educators such as Eleanor Duckworth, Tina Blythe, and Howard Gardner, informing Eclipse Academy’s focus on discovery-based learning and student engagement. Before Harvard, Casey graduated from New York University with a double bachelor's in Biology and Writing.

Casey has a gift for creating learning experiences that fuse academic challenge with imaginative play, delighting students. She understands how to coach teachers so that learning goals are met, while also offering students choice and empowerment along the way.

Before Eclipse, Casey served as the Instructional Coordinator and Science Department Chair at School for Independent Learners in Los Altos, California. There, she and our Head of School, Ashley Sarver, collaborated on the development of 100+ courses for grades 6 - 12 in English, Science, and Social Studies, all of which were accredited by UC Doorways.

Originally a Florida girl, today Casey lives in rural Pennsylvania where she enjoys hiking, camping, and exploring her adopted home. She loves road-tripping to visit family and friends up-and-down the East Coast, and is always up for an adventure. A science nerd and humanities aficionada, Casey minored in the Classics and Ethnomusicology. If at all possible, she would like to be reincarnated as a manta ray or a fruit bat.
